This knotweed relative is an exotic herb with bright green leaves and maroon-shaded “ink blots.” It’s best used with Southeast Asian dishes like drunken noodles or lemongrass curries. It generally can stand-in as a substitute for cilantro or mint in most Vietnamese recipes.
